SummerSlam 2019 Location Announced, Matt Hardy Receives a Sendoff

SummerSlam has come and gone for this year, but much like WrestleMania, the event has become so huge over the years that WWE is always working on plans for the show the following year. After running SummerSlam pay-per-views in the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York for the past four years, the tradition will now officially be coming to an end in 2019. WWE revealed ahead of tonight’s Raw show in Toronto that next year’s SummerSlam event will be taking place in Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena on August 11th, 2019. As expected, NXT Takeover takes place in the same building the night before SummerSlam, and Raw and SmackDown will also be held in the venue later on that week.

The Hardy Boyz have both accomplished a lot during their careers, and there is no denying that both Matt and Jeff Hardy are still fan-favorites in WWE. However, Jeff has been dealing with injuries for quite some time now, and Matt’s nagging injuries have gotten so severe that he is now taking time off from the ring with no word on a possible return date. Matt Hardy revealed on social media earlier this summer that his lower back and pelvis have begun to fuse together after years of wrestling. Not too much longer after this discovery was made, he and Bray Wyatt both dropped the Raw Tag Team Championships to The B Team, and Hardy will now be receiving treatment for his injuries while he decides what the next step in his career will be.

Matt Hardy just competed in his final WWE match for the foreseeable future during a WWE live event in Rochester, New York last night. He teamed up with Bray Wyatt once again and lost a match to The B Team that also involved The Revival. According to fans in attendance, Hardy and Wyatt both embraced in the ring after the match was over and did Matt’s pose on the stage to a standing ovation. Hardy thanked Wyatt and his fans on Twitter shortly after the match concluded. Hardy revealed that he has been shadowing the backstage producers in WWE recently during his time off. Reby Hardy, Matt’s wife, said that her husband’s current WWE contract is coming to an end in March of 2019 earlier this year.

Thank you for a WONDERFUL & HEARTWARMING send off tonight, #WWERochester. I appreciate you. https://t.co/atr7w3TCWa
