SmackDown viewership on Tuesday night was down 8% from last week against strong competition from NBC’s coverage of the Olympics. The drop wasn’t as severe as it was for Monday Night Raw the previous night, despite 33 million people tuning in to coverage of the games.
SmackDown did 2,455,000 viewers for the two hour broadcast on USA Network. That’s down from the 2,681,000 the previous week. The show finished second on the night in cable and in the 18-49 demo to Have and Have Nots on the Oprah Network, which did 2,885,000 viewers.
In the three weeks following the live draft special on July 19th, SmackDown’s viewership total has been between 80 and 85 percent of the Raw total the same week. This week’s show did hold the largest percentage of Raw’s total of the three weeks.
NBC’s Olympic coverage will continue next week and the post-SummerSlam editions of both Raw and SmackDown will be the first weeks without any major sports competition.
