Model Plane Maker Builds Functioning Electric Airplane In His Garage, Takes It For Test Flight!

Peter Sripol is an RC plane enthusiast, who makes some crazy model airplanes, for his Youtube channel. His creations include a plane made out of KFC buckets and an RC truck flamethrower This time though, he has outdone himself.

He has made a full sized electric plane that flies! Watch the biplane in action here.

What’s fascinating is that Peter has used parts that are usually found in model airplanes for his full size creation. The plane’s engines are some of the biggest electric motors that are used in RC planes – the fuselage is made of fibreglass and wings out of foam and wooden support structures.

The entire plane was made in his garage and before building it, he only had experience making small RC airplanes that he would control from the ground. But he seems to be quite adept at handling the aircraft and even lands the thing without incident.

Don’t Miss
  • Peter says that the plane meets US FAA’s (Federal Aviation Authority) regulations for ultralight aircraft. Therefore it flies slower than 102 km/h and an empty weight of 115kg and doesn’t need to be registered. Also Peter doesn’t need a pilot’s licence to fly it.

Many Indians too have built their own planes at home, but their stories are not quite so rosy.
