It’s been six months since Meghan Markle has officially joined the royal family after wedding Prince Harry, and apparently their exchanging of vows incited seismic shifts in Kensington Palace.
In addition to making the monarchy more modern with her wardrobe (she wears pantsuits!) and rules of etiquette (it was controversial for her to shut her car door!), Meghan is bringing a new energy to the palace with her work ethic. And while a strong drive is typically appreciated at any job, Meghan’s eagerness is making royal staff uncomfortable, according to the Daily Mail.
“It is said palace staff have never experienced anything remotely like Meghan’s formidable work ethic, matched only by the incessant stream of ideas about how to shape her role,” reports the publication.
According to the Daily Mail, the Duchess of Sussex starts her day at 5:00 a.m., and from there, she sends the palace aides around six or seven texts about new ideas or requests.
Though the aides see her enthusiasm as well-meaning, her “up and at ’em West Coast energy is an uncomfortable fit with the more formal ethos of some of the palace staff.”
This new report comes a week after it was announced that Meghan’s personal assistant unexpectedly quit, which came as a “real shock.” “She played a pivotal role in the success of the royal wedding and will be missed by everyone in the royal household,” an insider said of the duchess’s former assistant.
Other aides have quietly left the Palace since Meghan’s arrival, including senior communications secretary Katrina McKeever, who resigned in September.
Considering Meghan and Queen Elizabeth — who is the enforcer of workplace processes and traditions at Kensington Palace — are basically BFFs, we’re taking this report with a gigantic grain of salt.
