Firefighter Giving CPR To A Puppy Rescued From A Burning Apartment Will Restore Your Faith In Humanity

A puppy rescued from a burning building is now breathing, all thanks to the efforts of a firefighter who gave it a mouth-to-snout resuscitation for 20 minutes.

The team of firefighters rushed to rescue the owner named Crystal Lamirande and her dog, Nalu from their burning apartment in Santa Monica. 

After the team pulled out, Nalu, from the blaze, he was motionless, but one firefighter named Andrew Klein was determined to save the dying pup.

  • Klein immediately got on his fours and tried to resuscitate Nalu, “I picked him up and ran out of the apartment because time is key, especially with a small dog… Failure was not an option.” he told AP. 

    Owner Crystal Lamirande, 35, watched on as firemen tried their best to revive her pet.

    “His eyes were glazed over and he was not breathing and I assumed he was dead,” Lamirande said, adding, “The firefighter said ‘I’m a positive person. Let’s just get him back.’” she said.

    After a 20-minute-long CPR, Nalu, sprang back to life. “He’s been coughing but right now he’s fine and he’s so happy and smiling,” said Lamirande with a sigh of relief.

    Photographer Billy Fernando, who captured the entire incident on his Facebook page, “This brave fireman named Andrew Klein from Santa Monica Fire Department went in for the rescue and gave the pet a CPR and took care of her back to life.”

    Andrew Klein who is a dog-lover himself said that he was proud of the outcome “To see him kissing people and walking around wagging his tail was definitely a good feeling”

    A Gofundme page has been set up help Crystal and Nalu after the fire that left them without a home.
