Bison Wrestling Remains in National Top 20

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State University wrestling team maintained its national ranking at No. 20 in the USA Today/NWCA Division I Coaches Poll released on Tuesday, Feb. 11, following two road victories in Western Wrestling Conference action over the weekend.

The Bison are ranked 21st in the Intermat rankings which order teams based on projected NCAA Tournament finish. Intermat also released a dual-strength top 20 this week and pegged the Bison at No. 17.

The Bison are 9-4 in duals this season and 3-0 in the WWC after wins at Utah Valley on Feb. 7 and Northern Colorado on Feb. 9.

Individually, senior Steven Monk continues to lead the Bison with his No. 3 national ranking at 165 pounds. Monk won his 17th straight match on Sunday, running his season record to 24-1 and a perfect 13-0 mark in duals.

Sophomore Hayden Zillmer (21-5) is ranked 12th at 174 pounds by Intermat, and junior Kurtis Julson (17-7) is 20th at 184 pounds.

NDSU will travel to Columbus, Ohio, this weekend to wrestle at the NWCA National Duals on Feb. 16-17. Pairings for the national dual tournament are expected to be released later Tuesday.
