9 Dads Who Are Literally Superhumans, The Sort That The World Really Needs

Raising kids is a tough job in itself but there are fathers who do it so effortlessly, one wonders if they are super-humans. There are also those fathers who don’t get to share a lifetime with their babies for reasons beyond their fix, but they persevere. And then, we so often come across dads who choose to adopt, simply because they know they can do it.

This piece commemorates nine such dads, simply because they deserve our attention.

1. This dad who wants to raise his son right

Humans of Bombay

Meet the father who is teaching his son the deeper meaning of feminism, which no one yet knows, not even those who advocate it as a philosophy.

“I was overjoyed that I had a son, but I knew I wanted to raise him right. It’s okay if he cries and if he shows his emotions – my wife and I are constantly telling him that crying doesn’t make him any less of a man. We teach him to respect girls as equals and even in little things like a game of football or cricket to not make fun of them – that’s where it all begins.”

2. This father who gave a second life to his daughter

Don’t Miss
  • Suffering from a rare congenital disease, Parvathy MS was on dialysis for twenty hours a day. When a transplant was the only option left, her dad stepped in to donate his liver along with his mother who donated her kidney and together they saved the two-year-old’s life.

    3. This dad who became candyman for his little girl

To ensure that his three-year-old daughter didn’t miss Halloween while travelling on a plane, this dad stepped in as the candyman and took his little girl trick-or-treating to other passengers. He even left a note that read:

“My 3-year-old daughter, Molly, was bummed that she wouldn’t be able to go trick-or-treating this year due to this flight. . . so I decided to bring trick-or-treating to her. If you are willing, when my little donut comes down the aisle, please drop this in her basket. You’ll be making her Halloween!”

    4. This super dad who is crawling the streets to search for his missing son

Chen Shengkuan is not letting his disability deter him from searching for his missing son. In what seems like a possible case of abduction, Chen’s determination to find his son knows no limit. He has been crawling the streets of China with his son’s photo and will continue to do so till he succeeds.

    5. This father who adopted a special needs child

Aditya Tiwari is a household name. He shot to fame when he brought home a special needs child, becoming the youngest bachelor to adopt a kid. He fought a difficult fight that lasted years but in the end, he triumphantly became a dad to Avnish who has Down Syndrome.

    6. This dad who embraced his son’s autism

    THIMOTHY ARCHIBALD

While parents most often try to hide their children’s ‘abnormalities’, here’s one dad who not only embraced his son’s autism but memorialised it in photographs. Thimothy Archibald captured his son, Elijah’s world to show how different it was from ours, yet so pure.

    7. This father who lost his child to cancer

Losing a kid to cancer is probably the worst punishment a parent can suffer. And it takes a whole new level of super-humanity to deal with a child’s loss. When Andy Whelan shared his daughter’s photo, he did it to apprise the world of the ‘true face’ of cancer. His truth kickstarted a conversation parents needed to have – that of embracing their child’s suffering and battling it out to the finish.

In a Facebook post, he wrote,

“As a photographer it is important to capture the truth and the reality of the situation. Too easy it becomes to capture the joy of life whilst discarding the torture that we see. This is the hardest photograph I have ever made, it is in fact my own four-year-old daughter.”

    8. This father who tattooed his head to match his son’s scar

    JOSH MARSHALL

Gabriel Marshall went through multiple surgeries to get his brain tumours removed. The young boy was left with an ugly scar that had him feeling like a ‘monster’. Enter daddy Josh Marshall who got Gabriel’s scar tattooed on his head.

While the gesture left us wiping away our tears, Josh sent out a very important message to parents everywhere – your child is confident as long as you are driving the force behind them.

    9. This father who brought his son’s drawings to life

Tom Curtis literally won hearts when he shared his son’s drawings and paired them with his own. The difference? With the help of Photoshop, he breathed life into his son’s creations, and with that gave his son his unfaltering support as a parent.

Because what parent doesn’t appreciate the crazy their little ones see with their eyes?

We salute these fathers for they have shown us light – the light that lifts the darkness and fills our very being.
